Marlins catcher and IACF member Jeff keeps his Oly-lifting tech crisp however he can. Good luck J and the rest of your teammates.
We are so proud of our athletes. Not only for coming in and keeping the attendance over the century mark (103) but for fighting through a crushing WOD. Murph would be proud.
Interested in the book capturing Murph's final moments... "Lone Survivor"
We have almost reached our goal of 5-Century days in a row. Today's WOD will be a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Come in a start the weekend right. (Early Birds...loose lips sink ships)
Want to make some extra cash. HQ is now paying money for your CrossFit related photos. So if you have a pic of an HSPU in front of the Coliseum or rafting down Niagra Falls, submit them to HQ before you publish them anywhere and make some loot. Here's the link http://photos.crossfit.com/.

IM TELLING YOU BABY!!!! THESE "EARLY BIRDS" ARE THE REAL DEAL!!! GREAT JOB TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAME TODAY! GREAT JOB!!!

I usually bite my tongue with this sore subject. I sometimes ignore it to pretend that its not an issue. I am constantly consoling other cfer's and telling them "who cares". I give lil lectures on the "Sport of Fitness", Integrity and not missing the big picture of "Forging Elite Fitness".
Today I share with you my three views; As a business owner, who cares as long as we get paid right. But the truth is I never really think as a business owner, to be honest with you I can't even tell you how much we have in our acct. I have 1 job and 1 job only, get our athletes fit.
As a trainer, it really upsets me because how can I help you achieve your goals and make you a more fit all-around athlete.
As a fellow CFer, (here comes my nasty side) how can some of you walk out of that box with some of the numbers that you are posting and sleep at night? Is it that you don't care? Is it that you've cheated your whole life so its normal to you? Is it that you are embarrassed that your are taking so long? Is the WOD too tough? What is it? Cuz now I'm pissed! How can some of you scream "TIME", knowing that everyone's looking up saying "No f-ing way". Do you think we are stupid? Josh Everett doesn't put up the times some of you put up. I don't want to sound like an arrogant ass. But we have some badass coaches and athletes that have been training long and hard to be where they are at today. For some of you to be coming even near those scores is absurd. I'm not talking about the fire-breathers such as the Raulitos, CFWs, Reys, Turtles, Gils, Cecis, Anis or Cristys. Two things im good at, assessing someones fitness level and calling a spade a spade. Don't you guys think we count??? Don't you think we stand at the other side of the box and count every single rep. Don't you think we are in the office talking exactly about you. We know who you are...everyone knows who you are!
To the Lachi, Omars, Dannys, Pedros, Jens, Alexandras, Aarons to the athletes that the night is falling and your are still working. To our Elenas, Vals, Als, Amarys and OGs, that fight each agonising rep...God Bless you guys. You are what inspires me.
I want to be clear, this is a very small percent of you maybe just a handful. But cancer starts at one cell.
This message might be bad business. It might even piss some people off. But if it does, so be it. Go somewhere else. You are not wanted here.

Im pissed that you didn't mention me in all those names. Your Boy, TICO. I'm also glad you touched on this subject. Its about time someone did. I'm one of the ones that gets offended when a time is posted that looks shady. It does bother me. It bothers me to the point that i've asked not to post my time because it makes no difference to me. I'm there because I want to not because I need to prove my fitness or lack of to anyone. Those days are well behind me. I mess around with you a lot kid but when ur right ur right and I commend you on touching this subject. It is well overdue. And dont worry about the business side of it. As long as i can I will continue to get people in here and promote you guys. I LOVE U MAN! I feel like running thru a wall now!

I'm with Tico on this. I'm glad you mentioned this but I'm also upset you didn't mention our names!!! You feel a sense of accomplishment when you see your progress and you're doing it the right way. And even more so when you see other people that you've been dying through workouts with and then one day they start doing Rx and posting up great times. It's great to grow together honestly and look better faster bc of it.
Posted by: James | Friday, June 26, 2009 at 11:58 AM
Mike thats good that you touched on that subject, but remember those people are only hurting themselves. If people are worried only about their times thats their problem, I look at the times and I feel bad that they are kicking my ass in some of these WODS, but SHIT at the end of the day I know how far I have come, I could actually run up and down the Basketball courts, I play football and not get as tired as I used to get, and shit I've lost over 20 pounds.
I personally appreciate everything that you and the guys have done for all of us.

First and foremost i must agree.
Now, After much thought, analysis, observance, annoyance, and discussion, i have finally come to the conclusion and would like to say two words to the people who shave their reps and rounds. THANK YOU.
Thank you for the sole purpose of making me push myself even harder throughout the workouts so i can achieve an even better time and still make sure that "you people" do not get a better time than me.
If you want to cut down on your rounds and reps, thats fine i have no problem with that, just make sure you do not come to ME and ask me "Why am I not seeing results?"
For everyone else that does the workouts the correct and proper way, good job I'm proud of all of you and i can see your goals coming into form on a daily basis when you enter the box.

Mike its good you spoke on this subject, and see how much you care. Remember those people are only hurting themselves, and don't realy care, therefore won't last. Keep up the good work your doing a great job!!!!!!

Wow I don't want to sound like a broken record Mike, but I agree with you and three before me. I also by no means am in this to prove to anyone my athleticism I am a has been like most of us eventhough some may not admit it. I am first of all here to get back into some sort of shape besides round like I am now. Second because I finally found something "FUN" if you wanna call it that I like and at the same time is great for me, along with the awesome people at this box. I feel ur frustration as well and am not even a trainer or owner, it sucks when people put those ridiculous times and they ask what your time was and then they tell you "Ha I beat you" and they are lying atraight to your face. Thank you Mike, Nick, Dre, and Eddie for pushing me all the time. Don't get when you see me scaling down ALL the time, I know my limits and I could care less if I finish last every class as long as I know that I got my A$$ kicked!

Im definitely not one posting great times on the WOD's since Im'm usually either in the middle or last... (Especially if there is any running involved) Last week I hit a HUGE bump on the road, felt discouraged and even thought about just leaving the Box altogether since I wasnt really seeing any results...BOY was I wrong... I got on the scale (Wii fit) Thurs night after Xfit (Wiwi begged me not to do it b/c you are supposed to do it first thing in the AM and well, I always weight myself @ night and the Wii had measured me a couple of weeks before I started Xfit almost 3 months ago) and so far I have lost 10 lbs (MIKE, I know the scale is irrelevant but it does wonders to the ego!) & my Mii was no longer "Obese", now I'm "Overweight"...LMAO... Anyhow... as for my fitness level... Well, I dont think I even have one, I dont understand how I can walk in and Deadlift Max (My fave, no joke) 205lbs and I can only Benchpress 45lbs... CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THAT! I dont get it.. I agree everyone has their weaknesses and their strengths, I wish I had better knees and that my Tennis elbow would chill but I'm the box trying to accomplish me, I'm trying to do me... I have seen, I have even counted people while they worked out but what's the point? Why am I going to worry about what they are doing? Bottomline is... at the end of the day, YOU see who is improving, who is getting stronger and who is there b/c they want to get better.. Wiwi perfect example... has lost 30-odd lbs, has completely lost his beer belly and is starting to see abs (I love you Wi), this week he had the best time in the Wed 8 am class... I have the pics to prove it (and also the fact that he was the only one in the CLASS!), another one I see going hard is Danny Monzon- I've heard the Firebreather has lost god knows how much weight and his "cheating" is the Chicken Kitchen Mustard Curry sauce... Now THATS dedication!

Mike, (your smallest/biggest threat here)...
It goes without saying that I agree with you and give you big kudos for posting your words... and (sniff, sniff)... I'm so flattered you mentioned ME! :-) Makes me feel all special and tingly inside, lol.
Anywho... the basic reason for my post today is to THANK YOU. Thank you for your passion and commitment. It is evident from the way you feel that you truly care about the sport, but even more (and most importantly) about us... IACF's loyal and hard-working members. You put your heart into everything you do for us, and I am certain that every single member of the IACF family knows it, sees it and feels it.
A big THANKS also to Dre, Nick, and Eddie for their great coaching and encouragement.

We've only been here for a few weeks so I can't say I have noticed a problem with cheaters or would even know the difference in posted times.
We usually come in last or next to last and that is okay for now. Finishing the workout is an accomplishment as is coming in each day to participate.
I come to this box and immediately included my wife after my week of 101's because I believe in the workouts and the owners and trainers.
I've seen better results in less than a month than over the past several years at LA Fitness, Equinox and Bally's.
I've also spoke to and met more people and received more help in my workouts than in all the prior gyms combined.
My wife, Ray, has also found this but I find that people usually like to talk to her anyway.
Thanks again for providing a great place to train and learn and your thoughts about maintaining the integrity of the box are appreciated.

In a nutshell people "IF THE SHOE FITS, WEAR IT"
Posted by: Guille | Friday, June 26, 2009 at 02:49 PM
I like the way you think Guille... we always rag on each other... but we "Get It"... Enough with being fat... Are you still sneaking out to Sports Grill from time to time???

On April 27, 2009 I wrote...
You're only cheating yourselves. No need to call out names either. You guys know who you are. Don't pay a membership fee to come in and cheat yourselves. For that you stay home and stay out of our box!
Been there, done that! Get over it!

Mike i know i just started not so long ago and to tell you the truth IACF is like a family ive never had. I agree with your argument and i understand why you are mad.... I would lie if i never thought of taking the easy way and skiping a rep, but to tell you the truth ive never lived my life like and i wouldnt be where im at if i did so ill never do it.
Guys in CF were a family, only a few people do what we do so dont cheat yourself and bust your ass because at the end of the day there just numbers. Im not better than nobody because i could do a workout fast I just do it for me, and I never try to show nobody off.... well except the CFW but thats fun rivalry and I still gotta catch up.
I want to thank you Mike and the rest of the guy's and girl's for pushing,
motavating, teaching, and helping all of us.
I'll see you guy's tomorrow's work out.

Sort of looking in from outside, though I break my butt working out, thanks to being inspired by you guys, I think Mike is doing right in defending that code of honor, even if no one is counting. The minute the W.O.D. posting becomes an official joke or fake, this lack of discipline will kill the professionalism of the workouts. Once this is gone, we would just become another gym. To be honest, what makes this place UNIQUE is the professionalism, dedication, and spirit of the trainers and those close to them. I don't care how big or small or cold or warm this facility is, what if offers you can not buy. Keep it up Mike, you are the spark here, no offense to Eddy and Nick, they are following real close.

Great speach Mike!!!!
I'm not as strong as Omar, but I'm trying my best. Thanks to you guys I have done things that I never thought I could do.
Thanks for the effort that you have given towards us.

Mike, something my parents always preached to me growing up "Primero se coje un mentiroso que un cojo"
For the non-spanish speakers
" You'll first catch a liar before you catch a crippled"

Mike, I gotta say your the MAN!!! Often times I'm really hard on myself bc of the times I'm putting up bc I know my capabilities. But then I come to the realization that its more important to finish the WOD right, in good form, and get my ass kicked at the same time, then to cut corners!! I could never cheat myself like that bc truth is, I want to achieve TOTAL FITNESS!! All you guys and gals at IACF are an inspiration to me, being a former "GLOBOGYM" musclehead, you guys have helped me get to next level and I'm addicted!!! Thanks Mike, Andre, Eddy, Gio, and Nick for all your hard work and dedication to this box. Keep it up the great work!!! IACF 4 LIFE!!!!!
